Recently I came across a link to see Touchless by Marshal Davis Jones. The link took me to a YouTube page where he spoke in poem about technology. The video provoked so many emotions it was as if I was there with him, touching his words. If you click the link and watch the video you will see what I mean.
At the end of the video I realized, it is ironic because he talks about technology making us touch less, yet the very means to watch him perform was a click or technology. Followed by another click to follow his YouTube channel and another one to Google his name, his Facebook, and his Twitter feed. In fact I was so inspired I wanted to be in his social circle that I spend 30 minutes clicking to know this person I will never touch.
His character and his persona is nothing more then an avatar where code leads me to his soul. Code, HTML tells me how to find him, who he is, what he likes to do in his free time, and how he speaks. To me Marshal's avatar is relevant. His computer real estate, his digital soul is relevant to things I am interested in. But him, his human flesh could be nothing more then a dry, scaly, dirty clothed, poor, kid that I would never glance at on the street.
Today your human flesh is irrelevant but, your digital soul is who you are. We are a new race; not White, Black, Hispanic, or any other definition we are avatars. Where with just one click we can become a social virus, a destroyed name, or an influential person.
